Moncton Magic Sign Franchise’s First Player in NBLC Veteran, Al Stewart.

News broke earlier today that NBLC veteran, Al Stewart, would be following former head coach Joe Salerno to Moncton as the franchise’s first signing.  Along with the unveiling of the team’s official logo, fans were treated with the first player signing of the 2017 off-season.

Stewart, heading into his 7th season in the National Basketball League of Canada, joins former Island Storm head coach, Joe Salerno to the Magic.  This will be the duos 6th season together, the longest in NBLC history for a coach and player.  Save for the 2014-15 campaign, and 3 regular season games in the 2015-16 season, the Salerno/Stewart combo has combine for 182 games.

Arguable a top 5 player in NBL Canada history, the 5’10 guard from Drake University has his name down in he the record books.  Over 7 years, Stewart has amassed 1906 points (9th all-time), 825 rebounds (9th all-time), 1013 assists (2nd all-time), and 350 steals (1st all-time).  To compliment his statistical achievements, Stewart is also a two time NBL Canada Defensive Player of the Year winner (11,12 seasons), and the only guard to do so in league history.
